Daniel Watters Presents

BioDaniel Watters started making music as soon as he could convince his parents to invest in a guitar, and made his first studio recording at age 10 (enduring hits Johnny B. Goode and Rock This Town). In high school, Dan focused on studying improvisation, theory, composition, and improving his performance, leading him to explore Jazz training and Jazz composing. In his Jazz career, he played guitar in the Arizona All-State Jazz Band twice and performed in the famous “Jazz on the Rocks” in Sedona, AZ twice. At the same time, Daniel wrote and fronted several rock and ska bands that gained modest local followings. Although he focused on improving his technical skills, increasingly his focus shifted into performing high-energy live shows.

Immediately after graduating high school, Daniel went on a 4-wheeling Jeep adventure on the “Hole in the Rock” trail in southern Utah with his Dad. The experience was unbelievably stressful, with the Jeep often teetering on cliffs, and unlucky events like lost tent poles causing long, sleepless nights trying to snooze upright in chairs. When he woke up that last day of the trip, the concept of The All Day Dreamers LP dominated his thoughts. A record about, and for, people who daydream. When he returned he immediately began recording the songs he had already written, leading to his debut album “The All Day Dreamer’s LP,” released the summer of 2005.

During this time, Daniel became enchanted by the art of production almost more so than any other aspect of music. During the recording of “All Day Dreamer,” the engineer at Salem Studios, Richard Salem, took Daniel under his wing and taught him more about singing, producing, mixing, than Dan had ever learned before.

After spending much of his time in the interim performing in Los Angeles and Arizona, Dan left the States in Fall 2007 to study abroad in London. There, he found a serious muse and wrote much of what would eventually become “The Next Draft.” In London, he also worked at a mastering studio in Clapham, London, gaining valuable production experience and improving his production skills exponentially.

His senior year, Dan is focused on performing and getting his “rock music for the loving masses” into the hands of indie groove lovers across the country.  His post-grad goal?  To tour around the country on some crappy concert circuit opening for an underrated band.

After graduation, Dan moved to Denver, CO and formed The Oak Creek Band with friend Jenna Cunningham.   After forming the band, Daniel and Jenna achieved their stated goal above “… To tour around the country on some crappy concert circuit…”.   Daniel & Jenna got married in 2011.  They also recorded and released 2 albums, “The Oak Creek Band” in 2011 and “Fingerprints”in 2012.   After Fingerprints, they moved the band to Nashville, TN in 2013 and recorded and released 2 more albums, “XI (eleven)”in 2014  and “Glorietta” on vinyl in 2015.    Now the band is in Austin, TX.
